Description
This tantō extends the Japanese tradition of sword art. It is dressed in black from the solid wood scabbard with its silver thread decoration to the stingray handle. Its copper-alloy tsuba features a discreet dragon motif, that mythical animal. Its hand-forged blade also features designs.
The tantō is much smaller than a katana. It is also, for the most part, less curved. Essentially worn by samurai, women sometimes carried them, hidden under their clothes. The tantō exists in two versions, the kaiken or the tantō, depending on the type of frame and purpose.
